Since its debut in 2004, Blizzard’sWorld of Warcrafthas been one of the most consistently popular games. The unstoppable MMORPG is one of the biggest video game releases of all time, but it’s never made its way to consoles. Now it appears as though that may be changing in the future, as the Brazil ratings board has given an Xbox Series X rating to the game’s upcomingShadowlandsexpansion.
World of Warcraft: Shadowlandscoming to Xbox Series X as a console exclusive would be huge. It would potentially introduce a whole new audience toWorld of Warcraft, not to mention give the Xbox Series X a major console-exclusive to help it better compete with PS5. However, it’s worth pointing out that there is no evidence for theWorld of Warcraft: ShadowlandsXbox Series X version beyond the ratings classification, and so fans should keep their expectations in check. It’s entirely possible that this was in error and there are currently no plans to bring the world’s biggest MMORPG to Xbox Series X.

IfWorld of Warcraft: Shadowlandswas going to come to Xbox Series X, one has to imagine that Microsoft would have shown it at theXbox Games Showcase event. Then again, Microsoft was mainly focused on first-party Xbox games, which could explain why it ultimately didn’t show the rumoredWorld of Warcraft: ShadowlandsXbox Series X port during the presentation.
WithBlizzCon 2020 canceled, it’s unclear when an announcement like this will take place. Maybe Microsoft will announceWorld of Warcraft: ShadowlandsforXbox Series Xat an upcoming Xbox 20/20 event, or maybe Blizzard will be the one to make the announcement. Of course, this is assuming thatWorld of Warcraft: Shadowlandsis even coming to Xbox Series X and the rating wasn’t made in error, which seems like the more likely possibility.
Then again, Blizzard has been working onWorld of Warcraftcontroller supportfor both PlayStation and Xbox controllers, so maybe a console port ofShadowlandsisn’t entirely out of the question. Whatever the case may be, hopefullyWorld of Warcraftand Xbox Series X fans get some clarification sooner rather than later.
