However, a new model discovered in theWoW ClassicSeason of Discovery Public Test Realm might have given players a hint at something coming in the next phase.Discovered by Wowhead, an axe featuring spiraling green vines growing across its hilt and blade will seemingly appear in the next phase. While cool on its own, this unique weapon is nearly identical to depictions of the Axe of Cenarius – a Legendary weapon inWarcraftlore that has never been obtainable inWoWbefore.
What is the Axe of Cenarius in World of Warcraft?
The Axe of Cenarius originally appeared in theWar of the Ancientstrilogy in the hands of Broxigar, and later inStormrage, wielded by his niece, Thura. This iconic weapon has technically appeared three times inWoWbefore: once inLegionduring a War of the Ancients flashback scenario with Broxigar, and twice during theOrc Heritage questline inWorld of Warcraft– once in the hands of Broxigar’s spirit, and in person with Thura. That said, these incarnations used pre-existing axes, rather than a unique model like this one.
At the moment, the purpose and true identity of this model are not known. It is possible the weapon is not truly the Axe of Cenarius, that it will appear somewhere else other than Season of Discovery Phase 4, or that players might not obtain it at all. Either way, fans of thisiconicWorld of WarcraftLegendary weaponwere delighted to see a call back to the epic axe and can’t wait to see whatWoWhas in store for it.
