Xbox Game Passis the gift that keeps on giving, with the service adding more than it takes away practically every month. These are often announced a couple of days ahead of time, if not a week or two. However, Xbox Game Pass will occasionally drop a surprise game too. So, while fans are likely excited to check outHalo Infinite’s campaign when it releaseson Game Pass on December 8, the service has added a surprise game today, December 7.

Serious Sam 4comes from Croteam and Devolver Digital, putting players into the role of Sam “Serious” Stone and his squad as they face off with an alien invasion. It is a prequel to the past games and keeps that same franchise formula, if revamping a bunch of mechanics in the process.Serious Sam 4received mixed reviews at launch, but perhaps this launch on new hardware will give it new life.

Previously,Serious Sam 4was only available on PC and Stadia (due to an exclusivity deal), making today’s PS5 and Xbox Series X/S launch a real surprise. Specifically, though, it’s also aday one surprise launch for Xbox Game Pass, giving extra incentive to check it out on Xbox platforms and really putting the emphasis on day-one releases for the platform. There’s no listing for an Xbox One version, however.
