The fourth winner will get a Stan-themed console. Despite their one-of-a-kind nature, Microsoft is estimating these consoles to be worth the same as their retail counterparts, $499.99 each. Prospective participants have until 8pm PT on April 22 to enter the contest.
The sweepstakes itself is meant to promote the release of the latestSouth Parkgame. Developed by California-based Question Games,South Park: Snow Daydebuted to mixed reviewson March 26, with its current Metacritic Metascore ranging from 60 to 61, depending on the platform. Its early player impressions do appear to be more positive, although they aren’t plentiful. For example, the game amassed “Mostly Positive” reviews on Steam on its launch day, but that’s based on only 40 user ratings.
Granted, it is way too early to judge the success ofSouth Park: Snow Day, not least because THQ Nordic appears to be positioning it asa live-service gamethat’s meant to enjoy long-term support. But while many conventional single-player experiences are capable of generating long-tail sales, their live-service counterparts tend to be much more reliant on early momentum and a consistent content influx.
